QotD: Hair of the Dog

What's your favorite hangover cure?
Submitted by Soup.

That’s easy. I don’t drink alcohol.

Jim Gaffigan has a great stand-up routine where he talks about how people just assume that if you don’t drink alcohol it must be because you have a drinking problem…

"How come people question you when you don't drink alcohol? This never happens with other food. You don't use mayonnaise? WHY? Are you addicted to mayonnaise? Do you mind if I use mayonnaise? I can go outside and use mayonnaise.”
–Jim Gaffigan*

The point being, of course, that there are plenty of people who don’t drink alcohol simply because they choose not to.

Me, it’s because I have a drinking problem.

But I have the greatest motivation in the world to stay sober and I can promise you that a piss-ant little hangover doesn’t even touch the suffering of nearly losing everything you love thanks to your own selfish weakness.

My, that was cheerful. Have a Happy Sunday! ^_^

Nice post. And incidentally, I'm cool with mayonnaise, but I do have a butter and sugar problem. Oh, and a caffeine problem. Sigh.Happy Sunday, Kirk!

I had to give up the evil fluid. Boy it does a number on me. People all react differently. It is strange. Good for you.

Best hangover cure on the market!
However, I would just say that sometimes vegetarians do get dragged into "But why don't you eat meat?" conversations against their will. And those never end happily. No doubt there are also veges who drag poor meat-eaters into guilt-trips too. Can't we all just get along?

I don't drink either. When I tell people that, they look at me like I have something growing out of my forehead. I don't cuss either, so I usually get "are you mormon" or "is it because of your religion." I love when I tell people and they say" what do you do for fun?" How about not destroy my liver.

  6. Kirk says:

Yup. Best way to win any battle is to avoid it completely.

  7. Kirk says:

I'm still working in the swearing thing. Sort of. Don't know that I'll ever actually get over that one.

  8. Lauri says:

Yikes. I am working on the swearing thing, too. But….it's just too much fun!I love to swear. Have ever since high school. And..is it really harmful? Only to my own IQ perception by others…and well, do I really care about that? 😉

  9. Good for you…and your liver too! Hey, I clicked on your greatest motivation link and didn't even know your sweetie had a blog. I know, where have I been? Wait…don't answer that! he he. I think I'll go add her to my 'hood right now. Bye!
